what are noisenights?

noisenights are our vision for the future of classical music: informal crowdfunded events featuring international soloists in bars, converted warehouses, and nightclubs.

Most noisenights feature two short classical sets, one early evening, one late. All tickets to the late set include live music or DJs for the rest of the night, including jazz, latin, afrobeat, swing and funk acts.

Live music needs your backing more than ever. Becoming a noisenight backer means getting tickets to hear the world's best performers up close while becoming part of a community working for a positive future for live music.

After a noisenight reaches its funding target, we'll e-mail all backers to confirm it and a small amount of extra tickets will be made available. These tickets are released in three stages, which increase in price the closer to the event they're purchased. Book early to get the best price.

Please note that due to the venue's license, this noisenight is strictly 16+, and all under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

the venue:

Birkenhead is now the home of one of the most exciting new music venues in the UK, a building that re-imagines the role of a live music venue, providing live industry training and a regional hub for artist development.

Future Yard bring some of the most exciting new national and international artists to Wirral, while at the same time providing key early performance opportunities for emerging local musicians.

the music:

Evoking the haze and heady atmosphere of underground clubs, violinist Rakhi Singh and guitarist Alan Keary (aka Shunya) come together to venture into unknown sound worlds. Expect a collision of genres in this eclectic set, replete with experimentation.

Originally written for nine bagpipes and reinvented for solo violin, Julia Wolfe’s Lad — a formidable wall-of-sound experience — is at the heart of this experimental programme for amplified instruments, featuring Bach, Reich, and Hildegard of Bingen, as well as original compositions by Rakhi and Alan.

manchester collective:

Manchester Collective is a new kind of arts organisation, built for a fresh and diverse musical world. They create intimate and intense human experiences inspired by the music that they love, for everyone.

Known for their experimental programming and daring collaborations, the work of Manchester Collective has expanded at breakneck speed since their formation in 2016. They now play in concert halls, gig venues and factory spaces across Europe and the UK, performing a combination of cutting edge contemporary music, classical masterpieces, and staged work to a hungry, new audience.

New music is of vital importance to the Collective – in recent years, they have commissioned major works by artists including Edmund Finnis, Hannah Peel, Lyra Pramuk, and Laurence Osborn. Highlights include their Royal Albert Hall debut as part of the 2021 BBC Proms Festival; the creation of Dark Days, Luminous Nights, a daring audio-visual installation made under lockdown with Blackhaine and Simon Buckley; and Sirocco, the international sensation featuring South African cellist Abel Selaocoe.

Manchester Collective record for the Icelandic label Bedroom Community. Their third album NEON will be released in June 2023.
