At the centre of every noisenight is a one-hour classical set. We platform international soloists and ensembles while also giving opportunities to outstanding new artists. All noisenights take place in gig venues where you get to experience classical music up close.
Live music needs your backing more than ever. Backing a noisenight means getting tickets to hear the world's best performers in grassroots venues and being part of a community working for a positive future for live music. Putting it simply, you giving your backing will make this gig happen and secure you a ticket.
After a noisenight reaches its funding target, we'll e-mail all backers to confirm it and a small amount of extra tickets will be made available. Tickets are released in four stages, which increase in price the closer to the event they're purchased. Book early to get the best price.
Please note that due to the venue's license, this noisenight is strictly 10+ (under 16s need to be accompanied by a responsible adult).
the venue:
Band on the Wall is a multi-award-winning non-profit live music venue and bar, based in a former cinema space. The venue's had a licence for song and dance since 1803, making it the oldest live music space in Manchester.
It's become our home in Manchester, with this gig our sixth in just over a year — concerts which have included sold-out visits with Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Alexandra Whittingham, and Abel Selaocoe.

From nineteenth-century Germany to modern India, the Third Culture Collective blend entwined musical cultures. Having just toured India to great acclaim, for this performance they'll journey through indo-jazz fusion and western classical, to new music.
Director Kavi Pau’s arrangements will showcase everything from Bruckner and Schumann to raga-inspired jazz, offering a seamless blend of East and West.
Carnatic vocalist Ashnaa joins the Collective again after their debut last year, presenting traditional Indian classical music as well as new compositions that blend singing techniques and languages from around the world.

Third Culture Collective seek to make western classical music more accessible to the next generation of British Asians, inspiring them to take pride in their mixed musical heritage. They also aim to inspire Western musicians to experiment with South Asian sounds.
They provide equal opportunities for people of all backgrounds to engage with musical cultures from around the world. Bringing people together from all walks of life to share knowledge not only makes us better musicians but a more inclusive and tolerant society.
kavi pau:
Kavi Pau is a British Indian music director, composer, singer, keyboardist, and director of Third Culture Collective. His earliest musical experiences were in Indian music, studying the harmonium and Hindustani singing with Pravinaben Patel.

Alongside his study of Indian music, Kavi developed an active interest in western classical music from a young age, taking lessons in the piano, clarinet, and voice.
After studying composition and conducting at the Purcell School of Music, Kavi won a choral scholarship to Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he studied music. While at Cambridge, he worked regularly as a music director and répétiteur with the university’s top vocal and instrumental ensembles and toured internationally with the Choir of Gonville and Caius College.
Since graduating in 2018 with a prize-winning double-first class degree, Kavi has maintained a busy career, involving both the Indian and Western elements of his musical identity. Alongside his work as Director of the Third Culture Collective, he is also Director of Music at St Barnabas Church, Ealing and is the Founder Director of Ensemble 1517, a choir specialising in the music of the Lutheran Reformation. He combines these posts with regular freelance activities and also teaches at the University of Cambridge.

Tamil-British singer Ashnaa emerges from a Carnatic background, which inspired the direction of her own musical journey, which navigates genres such as RnB, blues, funk, opera and Indian Classical music.

Through starting to post music on social media in 2019, she has gone onto perform on many stages collaborating with artists around the world.
Recognising her nimble navigation of music traditions from across the world, Opera North casted her this year as Eurydice in the theatre production 'Orpheus', which is currently touring the UK. She has also made her breakthrough in Indian cinema, with her vocal performance of 'Vazhi Ithuthaano' appearing on the soundtrack for the Tamil action movie 'Poikkal Kuthirai'.

In order to qualify for a concession ticket, you must be in receipt of Universal or Pension Credit, in full-time education, a Blue Badge holder, or under the age of 25. There are a strictly limited number of concession tickets available for each event. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
