At the centre of every noisenight is a 60-80 minute classical set. We platform international soloists and ensembles while also giving opportunities to outstanding new artists. All noisenights take place in gig venues where you get to experience classical music up close.

Live music needs your backing more than ever. Backing a noisenight means getting tickets to hear the world's best performers in grassroots venues and being part of a community working for a positive future for live music. To put it simply, you giving your backing will make this gig happen and secure you a ticket.

After a noisenight reaches its funding target, we e-mail all backers to confirm that it’s going ahead and a small amount of extra tickets will be made available. Tickets are released in four stages, which increase in price the closer to the event they're purchased. Book early to get the best price.

Please note that all tickets to this noisenight are standing by default. If you have specific access requirements please get in touch prior to purchasing your ticket here.

the balanas sisters

Having grown up in the small Latvian town of Dobele, Kristine and Margarita Balanas moved to the UK in their teens. Since studying together at the Royal Academy of Music in London, they have performed together at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, Berlin Philharmonie, and London’s Royal Albert Hall, Barbican, and Royal Festival Hall.

This performance, their first since signing a record deal with Decca Classics, is an intimate exploration of duet repertoire for violin and cello. Taking place in Newington Green’s iconic working people’s club The Mildmay Club, the programme centres around compositions by Maurice Ravel and fellow Latvian Peteris Vasks.

Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Cello features at the heart of the evening. Written in memoriam of Claude Debussy, it finds common aesthetic ground with Vasks’ Castillo Interior, a meditative and spiritual piece inspired by the writings of St Teresa of Ávila. It’s a journey of discovery that mirrors the sisters’ own path in music, a theme of personal reflection which links together all the music in the programme at this one-off London show.

the mildmay club

The Mildmay Radical Club opened in 1888 on Newington Green as part of the new wave of working men’s clubs, designed to extend clubs to working class men as an alternative to the pubs.

Founded with the aim of “social intercourse, rational recreation and the advancement of progress in political opinions”, the club's roots were in radical politics and social campaigns. The current building dates to 1900, and retains almost all of its original features.
