noisenights

noisenights are our vision for extraordinary, personal, and community-centred live classical music: crowdfunded gigs bringing world-leading artists to iconic independent venues.

At the centre of every noisenight is a 60-80 minute classical set. We platform international soloists and ensembles while also giving opportunities to outstanding new artists. All noisenights take place in gig venues where you get to experience classical music up close.

Live music needs your backing more than ever. Backing a noisenight means getting tickets to hear the world's best performers in grassroots venues and being part of a community working for a positive future for live music. To put it simply, you giving your backing will make this gig happen and secure you a ticket.

After a noisenight reaches its funding target, we e-mail all backers to confirm that it’s going ahead and a small amount of extra tickets will be made available. Tickets are released in four stages, which increase in price the closer to the event they're purchased. Book early to get the best price.

Please note that all tickets to this noisenight are standing by default. If you have specific access requirements please get in touch here.

dudu kouate

Dudù Kouate was born in Senegal in 1963 into a family of griots, the conservators of the African cultural and musical tradition. Member since 2017 of the historic Art Ensemble of Chicago, Dudù’s performances are famous for his array of 200+ instruments (many of which are manufactured by Dudù himself from recycled and upcycled materials) with which he journeys to the roots of the sounds of the earth - a journey he names the search for the ‘sound of elements’.

Recognised as an enhancer of traditional instruments, especially percussion and idiophones, he has expanded their inclusion within diverse musical contexts. His debut album Africation saw him mark a new creative phase, including string and wind instruments from the Berber lute (xalam) to the kanjira, from the djembè, the Senegalese drum, to pan-African flutes and the Australian didgeridoo.

Dudù’s solo show takes the listener on a virtual journey of African sounds reworked in his style and perspective. Through this soundworld, he depicts the suburbs of Dakar, the natural landscapes, the savannah, the desert, the villages, and the stories of humanity.
