THROUGH THE NOISE ANNOUNCE 25 NEW NOISENIGHTS ACROSS 9 CITIES THIS AUTUMN

press release

After two years of sold-out shows, through the noise today announced that they are expanding their crowdfunded classical gigs to 22 venues across the UK. By the end of the year it is expected that over 25,000 people will have been to a noisenight after growing demand from a young fanbase. This autumn’s newly announced line-up features Fatma Said, Manchester Collective, Abel Selaocoe & The Bantu Ensemble, Alexandra Whittingham, Misha Mullov-Abbado, Thibaut Garcia, Lodestar Trio, Junyan Chen, Braimah Kanneh-Mason and Jeneba Kanneh-Mason. Among the venues hosting classical shows for the first time are Camden’s iconic KOKO, the Tyneside warehouse where Stephenson’s Rocket was built, and a wind turbine factory in Liverpool’s dockside.

This is a significant milestone for the community-led organisation, which began less than two years ago in grassroots venues around London. Building on the success of their sold-out tour last year with Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Harry Baker, through the noise are now launching regular noisenights in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Birkenhead, Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Brighton and London. Between October and December through the noise will take no less than five projects on tour around the UK.

noisenights platform international classical musicians in local venues around the country using a unique crowdfunding model, which puts concert plans to local communities for support in return for tickets. Each event is confirmed once it reaches its crowdfunding target. Tapping into the pre-existing audiences of the UK’s thriving gig venues, noisenights aim to reach audiences that might otherwise not have access to high-calibre live classical performers. So far 42 of the 44 noisenight sets have sold-out.

through the noise also today announced the launch of a partnership with Warner Classics, which sees three of the label’s leading international artists perform for enthusiastic noisenight audiences across the country. Following the success of their respective noisenights last year, Fatma Said and Abel Selaocoe will return to perform sets from their latest award-winning albums, with Selaocoe embarking on his first through the noise tour. Since its inception, through the noise has hosted dedicated album launch events, bringing international names to the UK for one-off appearances in front of new audiences. In his noisenight debut, guitarist Thibaut Garcia will introduce his next album on the Erato label, El Bohemio.

through the noise Co-founder and Artistic Director Jack Bazalgette said:

“We see today as a turning point: after two years of steadily growing demand for our grassroots classical gigs in London and our first two sold-out tours, we’ve decided to take the plunge and bring regular noisenights to audiences from Glasgow to Brighton. We’re so grateful for the committed support of our community of classical fans, who continue to allow us to take international names to community venues around the country, and we can’t wait to present this awe-inspiring line up of musicians. Every single performer we’re hosting has the rare power to move and inspire people, and I can’t wait to give more audiences the chance to experience them up close”

Acclaimed violinist Braimah Kanneh-Mason said:

“Having been in the audience for many of the through the noise concerts in the past, I’m very excited to be performing myself with my good friend and amazing pianist Junyan Chen. All the events are crowdfunded, the atmosphere is unique and so I hope to see you all there!”

Adam Szabo, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Manchester Collective said:

“This season Manchester Collective are breaking all kinds of new ground, and will see our very first collaboration with the fantastic team at through the noise. Their shows have brought brilliant, bolshy, virtuosic live music to new audiences across the country, and we can't wait to present three special performances of LAD together. Bring the noise!”

Sean Michael Gross, Director Warner Classics UK said:

“through the noise is doing incredible work breaking down barriers in classical music by making it exciting and accessible to young, enthusiastic music lovers. I’ve been a fan of Noisenights since attending my first more than a year ago, and we at Warner Classics are thrilled to be partnering with them to bring the amazing artistry of Fatma Said, Abel Selaocoe and Thibaut Garcia to UK audiences this autumn.”
